Held between two mountain chains, in a valley of superlative beauty, Lake Garda opens itself unexpectedly with its intense blue and every time this is a spectacular surprise. It’s because of this beauty and its great charm that it has been famous since ancient times with the most enthusiastic words and it was always able to capture the attention of travellers from all over the world.
At the time of the Grand Tour Lake Garda became the destination of nobility, artists, and, in the 1800’s, a true pilgrimage. Dürer, was one of the first, and then Nietzsche, Rilke, the Mann brothers and Kafka and finally the great Goethe who wrote enthusiastically “a wonder of nature, an enchanting performance”.
The climate, is sweet and warm, thanks to the mitigating influence of its waters, a totally special climate for this latitude, that favours a Mediterranean vegetation rich of fragrances and scents.
From the small town of Nago, secured at the feet of the ruin
s of Penede Castle, among olives and rocks, one can admire lake views of extraordinary beauty.
